personally i think its a measure of chance and profit. lane hackers are pirates. they might dislike the liberty goverment, but they haven t got an ambition to install anything else. - they dislike ageira, but they won t build up their own company to compete with ageira, so all they really do is to pirate ( still bothers me how they afford to build those battleships - from pirating?)

anyway - how will a pirate consider a target.... . a transport with goods (sort of no matter what ID) is a valid target, allways been for a pirate... so its up for grabs.

an empty transport may be a target - but thats "metagaming" cause, in fact there is nothing to get - and empty transports are only pirated cause we "know" they can pay. - for a faction like lane hackers - thats a bit of a problem, cause they are down to pirating - instead of like gaians / dragons / bundschu - who have a political issue and are also about to "terrorize" those that basicly "support" the goverment. ( applies to the LH aswell, but not so strongly )

an enemy fighter will be considered a threat and will most probably be attacked, depending on the chance. if the chances are 50 / 50 or worse, i d expect a hacker to wirthdraw ( unless he wants to pvp ) - cause, in a roleplaysense, there is nothing to gain from such an encounter - there is only to loose, even if you win the dogfight, you gained no profit, and will pay for your repairs.

an fighter that is neutral - sorry, i don t see any opportunity there. a combat vessel that carries no valuable goods and that the hackers have no issues with can hardly be considered a valuable target. whats there to gain? - bats, bots, but not really - ammo? hardly worth the trouble - a lot of bruises and a damaged ship... most likely and most of all, you might turn a neutral to an enemy.

a zoner ship... hmm.. the only freeport the hackers deal with is IMG run. zoners can t come up with the "we deny you docking rights on our freeports" cause no freeport is in the ZoI of hackers ( however, zoners can tell them to get red to zoners if they are attacked, - making it impossible for hackers to dock at far away stations - if the hackers ever feel the need to fly far away to a zoner freeport )

IMG ships - hackers should / would not really want to attack them, for the reason that the magellan freeport is run by IMG. making them enemy would be a bad idea - especially cause the IMG freeport is usually patrolled by an IMG fighter wing.
