The Fall of Bonn

[Echo 7-7]

Supervisor Davidson leaned forward in his chair with alarm as the warning message flashed on the screen in front of him.

"Bonn Station is under attack. Battleship Strausberg has opened fire against our turrets. Transports with marines have been seen heading towards several airlocks. Proceed to your nearest emergency point and stand by for further instructions. Repeat: Bonn Station is under attack..."

He adjusted his headset and keyed the comms switch. [Ageira Decks 1 through 5 only].

"The security alert has increased to Code Red. Repeat, Code Red. This is not a drill. Level One armouries are open."

Suddenly, the alert message on the main screen flickered and died.

"Moresby! What's wrong with the feed?"

"Sorry, sir, they're jamming station comms. Looks like we've lost the signal from outside the station too."

"Damn it! Engage emergency protocol 42 Alpha. We are switching all floors to internal power. We can't trust anything from outside our decks... we're on our own for now."

Moresby cleared his throat nervously and walked over to the Supervisor's control console. Davidson nodded and they both inserted their Personal Data Keys into the slots on either side of a panel with a single ominously glowing yellow light.

"On my mark. Three... two... one... mark."

They turned the keys. There was a slight pause, and then the yellow light turned green.

INTERNAL REACTOR ONLINE. POWER CAPACITY AT 93%.

"Alright, seems to be stable. Get the rostered Security Chief up here on the double, and a head count from all the other managers!"

"I'm on it!"
