Sherman shook his head to clear the sleep before grabbing an already packed rucksack from underneath his desk.
Double-damn that Bretonian for always being right, he thought fondly to himself.
McIllheney had called the escalation scenario perfectly; Davis had been with the company less than a month and had no idea how to handle affairs of this magnitude.
He stopped at the door to his small office suite overlooking the Public Relations and Foreign Affairs department to access the comms panel located thereby; one of the many benefits of being former CEO was access to just about anything he wanted, including the base announcement system.
He keyed in the command for Interspace Office-wide and heard his voice echo back at him through the speakers.
"All security officers with Delta-eight clearance, please begin a purge and burn of all sensitive and foreign documents and files located within the High Security areas. All other employees, please remain calm and seated at your desks. Thank you."
He clicked the comm off and exited his office; all five employees in his department turned to him.
"Okay everybody, every scrap of paper in the flash bags, every disk and hard drive in the microwave and then the compacter. This entire office is considered eyes-only, as I'm sure you know. We wouldn't want the BDM getting ahold of our action plans and scenario reports. And just to be sure....."
He opened the rucksack and pulled out four small chunks of plastique.
"Get to it. Rodgers, help me plant these on the mainframes."
