The military is certainly a good path to go down, if you can stick it out.

It's nothing like the movies, at all. And I can only imagine that while sitting on a ship for months at a time would yield you a lot of pretty views, it would get incredibly boring.

All power to you if you intend on enlisting, but realize what you're getting yourself into first, do some research, pick a handful of military jobs that seem interesting to you, talk to a recruiter, get -information- first, don't just sign on the dotted line, even if Liam Neeson is glorious and makes everything he does look awesome and good XD

No but seriously, enlist if you really see yourself as the military type, but don't enlist for the wrong reasons, or under misguided pretenses.

Even in the Navy, you could end up in or around the Sandbox. (The Middle East)

Again, do research, find jobs that seem appealing to you, get info on those jobs and what they do exactly, and then talk to a recruiter. (And please, please, pleaseeee, don't believe -everything- the recruiters tell you).

All that said, joining the military is one of the most awesome decisions I ever made in my life, even if I wanted to die during Basic. I don't regret serving, and I even miss the boring routines and overzealous twenty somethings who wanted to do absolutely -everything- "by the books".

Seriously though, you'll certainly see some interesting things, and meet some stellar people if you enlist, some of them you may even stay in touch with once you get out.

Anyway, it's late and I think I lost the point of all the words I typed somewhere along the way, so I'll just stop now.

If nothing else, don't go in blind.

Edit: If you actually wanna talk about this in some degree of depth, feel free to PM me or add me on Skype. I'm sure there's some differences between the Royal Military and the US military, but I might be able to answer some questions for you, if you're actually seriously considering the military.
