It seems new players aren't wanted in this game

New players are wanted but they have to obey the rules. But until you tell us your short story in longer version with details and names (for example type of ship and system you were in), nobody can´t tell you what was wrong. Also name of person who told that can help. Some bad bad players are sometimes acting like admins but they are not (by the way example of players who is not so wanted in this game and are usually punished).
