That is true mate.. which is why i use one of several methords to get people involved too. One methord i use is as follows;
I use it to train and help noobs, by doing trade runs that go from house to house... maybe not the best money.. but good enough. They get a 30 to 40% cut at the end of the run for escort duties... to make things interesting we HAVE to kill all rats (pirates) that we may come across (no running unless it really looks bad).
I think it helps alot.. making noobs money.. it's fun.. feels like a mission.. and I RP all the way.. from complaining about my kid brother (in game.. not real life) to worring about the military build up in Bertonia space.
Actually I've had some long chats with a few people on the server that didn't seem to understand what it is to RP.. i must say for a RP server i was very much suprised. I was asked thinks like.. why not get a large train? you can make the most money from it.. when I tried to explain that i wasn't init for the money i got the look your puppy gives you when you first tell it to sit (yeah lost).
I dunno.. but I've been playing MMOs for a long time.. games in general much longer.. and I have always believe that in a game that involves RP (MMO or NOT) half the game is what YOU make it.
Anyway, as I was telling Jamez before.. there are infact ways to use Traders in RP events and yes WITH combat!
Remember RPing is what you make it.. and how people react to you.. but also how you react to others.
