Well, I totally disagree here. In the world surrounding us, we have many people calling themselves Christians and hating everything that is "non-christian" while being pragmatic, usually also pretty intelligent people. Same for other relligions of course.
So no, I don't agree that fanatism precludes pragmatism or wisdom.
And no, the xenos are also living on planets of course.
Oh, and I could also say that the idea that the trade with foreigners is the primary stone on which entire Liberty economy stands on is in fact pure propaganda of globalisation fanatics.
