EDIT: given Bretonia being well, screwd atm, i doubt they have the resources to do RnD on a new shipclass, rather then making quick and effective design upgrades on what they have.

If this makes it ingame, it should be INCREDIBLY expensive to purchase, to reflect the cost of a brand new and "untested" RnD project.. iRP they should be beta-tested prototypes...

Actually this design is old. Its the first "bretonia gunboat MK1" while the current one is MK2 - say it that way for clear understanding.

Your statments deserve enlightment about few things:
-In lore Bretonia are building ships considering their own blue prints from southampton shipyard with huge efforts.
-The thing is, Bretonia cant keep up producing Battleship nor expensive elements for their defense fleets thats why they concentrate primary at - snubs, bombers and destroyers - which were again their superior weapon against the heavy ships (ku battleship, now the valor).
-By building even civilian ships (from Lore arming nearly 20'000 civil pilots) they prove the situation is desperate
-The gunship from this submission is an old design, cheaper than the gunboat, faster to build than the gunboat and requires less men to operate in as crew.
-The significant gallic advantage of over 125k snubs against just 70k BAF and 20K civilians leads to the point the only way to fight "fair" battles in terms of numbers is by rebuilding the old cheaper designs suitable to take down only fighters and bombers.
-The gunship primary role in Lore would be to be sent in mass producing and counter the gallic snubs while being supported from the Destroyers coming out daily from Southampton.

In terms of power in lore - Bretonia are going to use primary Destroyers for anti capital ship duty and Snubs, Bombers and Gunships reinforced by the remaining Gunboats for anti snubs and cover fire for the Destroyers.
