No, the gunship is addition for the fleet and support unit for the gunboat. the "mini-cruiser" should stay as it is cuz its totaly fine to counter gunboats but its diminished abilities would be updated by the gunship. Something like 2 ships doing the job of 1. (The gunship should be weak against other gunboats - similar to the bret gb is weak against snubs in short)

i dont see why you add a NEW ship, when the logical and standard step for militaries IRL is to first develop more weapon systems.

This is game, dnicu, and most imporantly here we RP by considering a written Lore Story for our factions. If the story is telling us we cant build anything new aka more powerful ships, the most logical step is to build whatever we can and whatever is more effective and cheaper - in short - rebuilding the "old" ships from the lore.
Direct answer on you question can be given only when the war with Gallia is over and considering the lore situation of Bretonia. If its good - most logical step would be rebuilding and updating their fleets with more 'powerful' units in Lore. If its bad situation - we shall see..

Oppinions like these confirm the fact most of the people here are just watching the images without reading a word. The link you gave above is for the FOL class bretonian concept arts (which we didnt used for the gunship). There are 2 more bret pictures missing on that site - the one with the possible BC and the one with the gunship:)
The concept we used was mentioned in the post 1, point III, image link:

Read the primary post before you give such conclussions. As for the further balance - you are fully aware nobody but the balance team is going to say a word about how this ship will be acting in game. Really there is no need for balance proposals from our side.
