Born on the Colony of Aerelon, Maui didnt have much of a childhood. On her 1st birthday the Cylon Fleet launched there first attack. Mauis parents made it of the Colony in time and were able to get to the Galactica before the raiders attacked.
She was raised on the Galactica and came in direct contact with the war, when she stole a Raptor to rescue her father, whos viper got severely damaged in a fight with a basestar. She managed to locate his emergency beacon and get him aboard, but he died hours later in Galacticas sickbay.

Her mother however was in more luck, she died in the Sirius System of old age. After serving nearly 35 years of administrative services, her mother retires. Only 6 months later, the fleet arrived in the Sirius System. Unfortunately her mother never saw the new Colonial Home, she spend the last 4 years of her life in luxury on Planet Curacao.

Maui got recruited in the Colonial Administration Office by her mother when she was 16. She started working as a helper, moving boxes and passing around files. When she turned 18 and finished home-schooling, she started at the Colonial Registration Office. After 3 years of hard work, she was granted access to more restricted files from lost Colonial Citizens. From that day forward she has been searching for more Colonial Survivors, she has evolved into an expert in her field.
