The Anomaly

I considered their...words, carefully. Understanding was fleeting and difficult to accomplish, but I think I understood the basics of where they were going...

Did humanity really have no future? That is a difficult question to answer. There were occassional flashes of brilliance, but they were subsumed by the general tide of humanity. It's collective greed and ambition. Ambition in itself is not a bad thing, but the ambition of one can and will break the order of society. It has happened before.

The question was, could we overcome this barrier by ourselves? That was an unknown. So was the fact that whether embracing the nomads' way would assist humanity. I'd felt sure before...that feeling had vanished. This was a decision I had to make, which could potentially alter many lives.

Minutes passed. Hours. I sat in their make-believe world, considering, weighing and thinking. The entities hovered around patiently, waiting for my answer. All these years of hating where we were going, and yet the solution was not so simple. I breathed in slowly....
