[The following transcript was recovered from a hidden compartment within LH Gilbert Hudson's daughter's LA Surf Competition trophy]
Dear Mr Hudson,
I am an employee of Ageira Technologies and have information for your and the Lane Hackers’ Interest. I hope this dangerous message is delivered to you without any harm done to your daughter.
My rather boisterous and rebellious son used to threaten me with claims of being friends with a girl whose father was a member of the Lane Hackers. Previously I just thought that this was a phase in his teenage life but the fact that they were acquainted through the love of surfing just kept ringing in my mind. The famous incident 16 years ago of a former Ageira Lane Hacker, you, winning the LA Surf Competition has not left any of Ageira’s employees’ minds. After recent work at Ageira left me traumatised I began to question the company and myself, and sought possible means to communicate with the Lane Hackers. As a senior member at Ageira, any form of electronic communication is monitored through the new bio-implanted chips in my wrist. Thus I resorted to what you are reading now. I took the liberty of investigating the connection between your daughter and yourself by hiring a man named Han Yolo who you may know as your future son in law. I apologise on his behalf for my role in what your daughter may feel as deception or “taken advantage of” – of which there are probably many considering Yolo’s nature. I am sure you will agree with me that both of us, but you especially, do not wish to delve into the methods Yolo used to gain information from your daughter about yourself, but what I can say is that his methods were licentiously effective… I hope the information I deliver to the Lane Hackers is important enough to eclipse any wrong doing you may feel from my side. With the knowledge that your daughter was indeed related to you I bribed the LA Surf Competition judges to give your daughter the prize (She would have won it regardless, probably…) and modified the trophy to contain this hidden message. I then asked my son to instruct your daughter to send the trophy to you.
Six months ago I was assigned to a think-tank within Ageira’s weapons development branch. This group was responsible for questioning the directions a joint Ageira and Cryer project was heading in. Previous to that, I had heard rumours that this project existed between our two firms but detailed information was then above my pay grade. Now with the information I have, I regret ever being involved.
To say the least, the activities in this project are humanitarian atrocities fuelled by the Liberty government’s lust for power through military control on Sirius’s economy. The project involves the integration of salvaged Nomad alien weapon technology with humans. As Liberty discovered that Nomad technologies perform optimally when combined with a host, the native form being the Nomads themselves, they delved into the possibility of modifying the technology to suite human use.
Ageira being the prime bidder for weapons development in Liberty got the bid. The initial aim of modifying the Nomad technology seemed impossible, but this did not prevent the company from losing the contract money. Fuelled and blinded by economic success, Ageira started using the abundant death row prisoner resource in Liberty to perform “human improvements”. It seems that during the Nomad incident 16 years ago, the former President Barbara Jacobi managed to acquire an intact Nomad body which was studied in Cambridge. For this project Ageira managed to acquire this specimen and clone thousands of functional Nomads. These Nomads were then allowed to possess the prisoners and the biology of the integration was studied. However the problem of the original human consciousness becoming replaced remained despite efforts. Thus a new direction emerged – systematic torture of human hosted Nomads to investigate if the Nomads themselves could be controlled. Astonishingly what was found was that if a threshold of suffering was surpassed, the nomads would “shut off” their consciousness to escape the suffering and the human consciousness returned to bear the pain.
With this knowledge Ageira succeeded in producing humans able to host Nomad weaponry extremely efficiently. The only problem being that the subject had to be under constant physical torture and that subjects would eventually die after suffering for prolonged periods of time. Another problem was the fact that the subjects – death row prisoners, often did not possess the intellect required to use this new weaponry in a safe and reliable manner. For this reason, innocent and misinformed, intelligent yet economically desperate interns became the new subjects. Due to the questions that emerged within Liberty after these interns went “missing”, recently interns from Bretonia are being used for these cruel experiments.
My letter is about one such Bretonian from Planet Cambridge. This intern named Damon Wayans had been “improved” and studied for two months before my arrival and was found to possess remarkable tolerance to the pain – surviving longer than any subject before. Indeed Ageira will hopefully never find out how long he could withstand the treatment or what made him unique as he escaped miraculously three days ago leaving a rather bloody path of destruction in the lab. What is even more remarkable and tragic is that he understood the need for constant unbearable pain in order to remain human and thus also stole his torture device during his escape. I cannot even imagine the self-inflicted pain this intern experiences in order to maintain his sense of self.
What we know about him after his escape is that he stole a Civilian CTE 750AE Starflier Light Fighter from the lab and commenced a mission of genocide against Ageira. As a security measure, all intern subjects had their past identities are removed, thus Damon Wayans with no self-identity flies around with the rather strange alias "Pink Panther". Damon is a wanted criminal by Liberty and any encounter with “Pink Panther” by its security forces will, and has been met with brutality. From reports I have heard it seems that Damon has managed to achieve combat superiority in such encounters; perhaps a facet of his “improvement”. It even seems that Damon’s activities gained him recognition within the criminal world of Liberty and the more recent reports I hear are of a Border Series X Dagger Light Fighter pilot flying under the alias “Pink Panther”. It seems extremely likely that this is the same Damon Wayans since the reports of this pilot's activities mirror his past mercilessness and targets.
My request to the Lane Hackers, if you already have not seen the mutual gain possible, is to take Damon Wayans under your wing. At the moment Damon is a self-agent of uncoordinated blind vengeance but shares your disposition towards Ageira and Liberty. It is likely with time that he will be captured and returned to Ageira unless he receives the support of the criminal intelligence base. However it is also likely that more disorganised criminal groups such as the Rogues will eventually recognise Damon’s unique abilities and use them for their own means. This may result in worse situations than at Ageira, such is human nature when considering the desperate situation most criminal organisations are in. Furthermore, it is likely that Damon wishes to regain his past identity, and from what I know the Lane Hackers best possess means of information attainment in the criminal world. Similarly with this advantage of the Lane Hacker’s communication network, I can only hope it possible that through exchanges with more humane research institutions, a method can be found to remove the Nomad from Damon before he succumbs to the pain, and lets his parasite take over...

You may question the lack of action on my behalf. What I have exposed greatly tears my conscience apart in regard to the morality of the cooperation I work for. However I have a family in Liberty that are more important to me than myself and if I were to act against Ageira, much harm would come their way, especially after I have seen the lengths Ageira goes to. Perhaps it would be fitting for my demise at the hands of Damon Wayans, my life insurance should support my family if such a thing would happen. At least then I will not have to be involved in the atrocities Ageira performs.
