Dossier #127 - Maine Scouting Report
Last updated on 12. November, 819 AS.
System Overview
The Maine system consists of two inhabited planets and several industrial stations, and most likely has a high value for the Gallic economy and industry. Its East-West lane route connects Ile-de-France and systems Junkers seem to call "Normandie", yet no jumphole connections could be found and the jump gate is inactive. Due to its distance to Malta as well as the lack of any suitable outposts, Maine isn't one of Gallia's most interesting systems to the Maltese nation.
La Ferte-Bernard
Owner: Gallic government
Location: 4 G
A border station located at the jump gate to Ile-de-France, many Navy and Police wings seem to base their patrols from there. Unlike many gates in the eastern Gallic systems, it is not additionally reinforced by weapon platforms.
Planet Le Mans
Owner: Gallic government
Location: 4 E/F
Scans from its orbit detected temperatures too cold to be suitable for life in most areas, however the planet is equipped with a docking ring and visited frequently by civilian and commercial vessels, indicating that a small population lives in the planet's equatorial regions.
Senonches Mining Facility
Owner: Gallic Metal Service
Location: 3 E/F
A mining station located in the north near a snow-white nebula, far from the trade lane system. It is appears to be used to gather resources from nearby asteroid fields, where small traces of copper can be found. However, the activity surrounding the station and in the fields is comparably low.
Planet Mayenne
Owner: Gallic government
Location: 3/4 C/D
Another icy terrestrial planet equipped with a docking ring and mooring fixture. Traffic landing on and departing from the planet is mainly of industrial nature. The planet is orbited by the "Treyarch Research Facility", which is protected by a powerful defense grid, as well as the "Mortagne Production Facility", equipped with several factory modules. Products are exported towards Ile-de-France into nearby systems.
Segre Outpost
Owner: Gallic government
Location: 4 A/B
At the other end of Maine's East-West axis, Segre Outpost and the battleship Nogent-le-Rotroi seem to protect an inactive jump gate. Its destination is unknown, no civilian or commercial traffic could be found in the area.
Laval Shipyard
Owner: Likely EFL Oil & Machinery
Location: 5 C
Located inside a southern asteroid field, Laval is a huge shipyard equipped with six docks for large vessels. It is likely that shipyard is mainly used for construction and maintenance of civilian vessels such as transports and liners, as the Royal Navy doesn't appear to patrol the area frequently and our wing was able to observe a luxury liner of the same model as the "Belleville" and "Antibes" under maintenance.
Chateau-Gontier Freeport
Owner: Gallic Junkers
Location: 5/6 F
Named a freeport and owned by the Gallic junkers, this station does not only welcome visitors from various origins, but also exports industrial resources. It is equipped with processing modules and orbits the blue gas giant Le Lude. While the gallic junkers seem to be comparably welcoming towards Maltese visitors, the frequency of civilian and corporate gallic vessels using this station as well as the grip of lawful forces on the lane network disqualify Chateau-Gontier as a frequent destination for Maltese vessels.
Ecommoy Base
Owner: Gallic Brigands
Location: 5 G
Ecommoy is built inside a big asteroid in Maine's eastern ice field. It is located near the Ile-de-France jumphole and serves as a transit point for smugglers, and as outpost for piracy within the system.
