I am not a great fan of foretold prophecyes from ancient times because one small little thing...over the ages becomes twisted.And yes my statement really sounds somehow close to the mayan prophecy BUT they didnt predicted the end world thing at all....simply theyr calandar come to an end because the mediteranian espaniols (*caugh* sairs) paid them a little visit and that was the end of their world.
The thing with the photon "radiation" is not so new...i recalled hearing it even from my grandmother a while back when i was a boy...God will come in a chariot of light and rid the earth of the unworthy (hope i remember the exact words)...well thet sounds interesting to be because (fizics again)...if you expose an object to intense solar light or even regular one it becomes light - up ... it somehow burn with a bright light ( nota ctualy burning offcourse) ... those are photons transfering the energy to the object and making it glow.I deraiated from the subject a bit....the main assosiation was between the "photon belt" and a tale my grandmother told me that is from the Bible
