Get that and you can be one of the best no matter what you're flying
- high frame rate
- lower ping then your opponent
- a half decent mouse
and you'll win against the most 'skilled' players out there 9 out of 10 times

Low ping, good aim = 4x Excaliburs
High ping, bad aim = 4x Flashpoints
If you mean merc as in Bounty Hunter then:
Manta + 4x Buckshots
or better yet a Bottlenose + basics
