Technically i agree with you Aeternus, the pew/show must go on, no matter what.

The question is how it should go on and played out- right now you simply have that hulk-smash-everything feeling as a Corsair, that some might appreciate...but as soon as you start thinking that there actually should at least be Inrp a handful of Corsairs out there with an IQ over 50 who don't make political or war decision by getting drunk and then throwing some dice(and even there, statistically every 6th decision would be a good one). I mean- after all, the Corsairs survived already, at least understood to build ships from stolen/gifted plans, developed the best pulse gun and so on....
So for me it is hard to accept that the ongowing pew is a rresult of centuries of stupidity lined up. What would be wrong if they made some good decisions here and there which might in theory be good enough to fulfill one of their goal(increasing tension and pressure for evveryone!) and then as in every good Drama something unexpected happens(no, not another drunken diceroll) - be it natural catastrophies, deus ex-nommie-attack, treacherous allies, betrayal, assasination, successfull acts of terrorism, new developments on the enemies sides or whatnot...everything is better than yeah, it is stupid but we do it anyways....

And it is kind of funny you mentioned the GMG...as these dudes are one of the unlikely allies that could benefit from burying the axe with the sairs aka- we sell you cheap H-Fuel and in return you leave us alone and instead keep the sigmas outcast and helium-thieves free.
Of course the Hogosha won't like it but i think there is not a single faction in all of sirius which doesn't have one or more of these diplomatic whack jobs no one seems to give half a thought about ...

So in general i think yes, the corsairs should be allowed to take part in the diplomacy carussel which is also a part of the roleplay-spaceshooter. At least on the Corsair side of things you can be sure that there are 9 people from factions that actually have different goals/ideas/standpoints - stuff will get properly reality checked.
And with recent diplomatic efforts that got smackesd it was even sure from the beginning that NAPs might last a mod version or so at maximum, so a mutaul break point was planned to keep the drama going- afterall there are players behind the Corsairs who are not as loco as their Empires storyline suggests Wink

Edit: Seeing as Joey sneaked a post in- who says diplomacy makes the Corsairs goody goody guys...i am strictly against it....evil plotting, cruel plans, merciless rules figgling and killing off those the sairs no longer need is where it's at...all by being SMART(!!) badguys, but bad to the bone!
As soon as we get a diplo sheet and activity like some other "unlawfulls" i will settle up camp on candy mountain wth plushbears Wink
