I am making this report in regards to an... Asset acquisition operation Five and I embarked upon just recently. I know we were never instructed to do this, but last I checked, autonomy was sort of our "thing", so I'm going to assume we're not going to get yelled at for helping our cause.
In essence, we made the journey out to the Omicrons in civilian ships and poked around the Freeports to track down some odd rumours about a world inhabited almost solely by AIs, robots, if you will. We wished to ascertain a good place to look for an AI heuristics core, with which we can program an AI of our own, something Five has long wished to accomplish, if I'm understanding this correctly.
To our surprise, this place does actually exist, and it goes by the name of Planet Gammu. So what we did, like the heedless morons that we are was land on one of the AI facilities and poke around and tamper with one of their loading units so it went to fetch a core for us.
Of course, since AIs are if nothing else not stupid, their security systems eventually noticed the tampering once the core was on its way back to us.
Thus, the robots turned hostile, and we had to fight our way out. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say we did manage to get out along with a core, with me and Five sustaining minor and moderate injuries respectively.
On our way back to Coronado, we even encountered a DSE trader who was happy to pay us a bit of cash for accompanying him to New York - while far from enough to cover all our expenditures, it should go a small way to helping us sustain ourselves.
Since most of the programming for the AI is already complete, we should expect to have it operational shortly once the code merge is finished and its personality settings are finalized - it should be of good use to us in a security and organizational fashion.
