Firstly Geisha, please note I'm pretty new too and my word is not the gospel truth from the horses mouth, so to speak.

I been shot at for running.

This is okay, but you can't be killed until the pirate has said "Pay X amount", and you've refused to, continued running, or haven't answered after 10 seconds.

I been shot at and killed for not running.

This is against the rules, AFAIK, unless you refused to pay, or (i *think*) took too long

I been shot at and killed ,even AFTER i paided.

If you paid the amount they asked, they aren't allowed to kill you.

I been warned and then shot at.

If they haven't killed you, I think this *is* ok, but it's badish RP to do hull damage when the traders stopped.

I been killed without warning.

This is against the server rules unless the player was a Phantom [Phantom] Tag and ID; a Keeper (nomad); or Terrorist (like Xeno terrorist). Generally stay away from those fellows.
EDIT: THIS ^ one is WRONG (see rules quoted later in post.. if you want to keep reading *sighes*) - even terrorists have to tax. Nomads don't though.

I get told that Traders are NOT required to stop when ''HALT!!'' is yelled out.

They aren't, but the pirates more likely to "muscle you up" a bit if you get caught.

**Please correct me if I'm wrong more experienced players, especially the 2nd one**

My final 2 cents on this is :

Pirates, say something more than HALT.
Traders, your making 7M a run........have some fun, run around a bit and finnaly give the poor staving space hag 250K for his efforts.
