When they made BF3, the developers had to keep in mind that it should be able to run on 7 year old hardware (the consoles), and although BF3 looks and plays better on the PC, it has still been restrained by that fact overall.

When they churn out BF4 they won't be constrained by console limitations at all, they are free to go all-in and make games that make Crysis3 look dated; because nothing is keeping them from it anymore in terms of hardware, and the PC will have gotten a boost to match the next-gen consoles through a new set of standards for DirectX.

If you are unlucky and buy your hardware now, you might be jumping aboard a train on its way to its last station - a new DirectX will probably be launched within the year, and you can be unlucky that your hardware doesn't support the latest in particle physics or whatever else they conjure up, which will mean that you won't be able to run BF4 with the top-end gfx because your card doesn't support it, or you might be unlucky and not able to run BF5 at all when that comes out without a hardware upgrade.

That is why it is smart to wait and pay close attention to the rumour mill, and make sure you buy hardware that is spec'ed for the next generation of games / next DirectX. Right now, on the verge of the next gen, is probably the worst possible time to make a major upgrade to your system, because we still don't know what the new standard will be for the next generation of gaming, but we do know the leap forward will be big. We will know the details in a few months though, and if you by smart you can get an extremely long life out of your investment.

I'm trying to give you advice on the purchase of a PC that will save you money and grief.
