Your problem is common in Serbia and all surrounding countries. Your try should not fail if you have the gypsies who are willing to do it. Tho, you can come accross the following:

• All copper wiring is protected by a big fat man calling himself Misho the Killer
  
• The doorknob could be sealed to the door itself, so removing the door could be fatal for your life
  
• Gypsies could rob you
  

I suggest a more subtle manner. Bribe Misho to remove the door, then let them do the job themselves.
