Which is highly annoying, since it prevents Gateway from using several highly lucrative trade routes, besides not being able to buy Shetland/Shire.
Well, then by same logic we shouldn't be able to use the Clydesdale either?
The obvious quick fix to this would be to simply purchase the ship before you get the ID.

The idea here being that Gateway is a smaller, more hodge-podge of ships than the more uniform and heavy Bretonian conglomerates like Bowex and BMM, so perhaps their ship line could reflect that?
