I like very much the first one. Also a sugestion that dunno if it's possible (due to proportions/sizes) but here it goes ...

What about empty the central part and put some cargo pots on it? It could need some modifications so dunno if it's a good idea and/or a lot fo work, take a look at the yellow zones in the below images this would be the part to "replace" with cargo pods, leaving the "duck" as a structure that loads the pods. (Edit: Oh the cargo pods should go in the transversal direction i guess, acording the space proportions)

Sorry if it's a bad idea, just came to my mind and i wanted to share it, I have never been a firefly captain for a long time so not sure if this would be a "sacrilege"
