But the result is the same. If you pay, you continue to the destination and sell the cargo and break even. If you have your cargo stolen, you lose the cost of cargo.

My account when I log in: 260 million
I buy my cargo: 259.5 million
Pirate steals my cargo, I go back and buy more: 259 million

If I were to pay the pirate the full value of my cargo
My account when I log in: 260 million
I buy my cargo: 259.5 million
I pay the pirate: 247.5 million, with no guarantee I won't lose the cargo anyway.

Edit: Spazz, even if it is on the last lane, I still have more money in my account.
