Actually, no - probably too esoteric for most people. It's from an old sci-fi series, and they mentioned in there that the whole city area down there ending up merging into one giant metro area and that's how it was known then. (As opposed to today, where most people say Dallas-Fort Worth.)
Down here its mostly called DFW, and its pretty much just one giant metroplex. Theres several cities between the two, Arlington being the bigger of them. It borders Ft-Worth to the point their bus system stops at our City Limits, and the Dallas City Limits is a 4 minute highway drive from Arlington's,
