Question about Pirating and RP

I remember reading about this, and from what I understand it's like Hone said.

There must be RP before an engagement, RP that's more than "Halt" or "Engaging!".

HOWEVER.....this doesn't mean that both sides have to RP. If you make a piracy demand, that threat to the trader is enough RP for them to engage.

As a pirate my advice is not to stand still near a trader you're pirating unless you're out of range or flying something that isn't a snub.
