The Lane Hackers have an "in character" recruitment thread already, but I want to make few comments that can't be said "in character".
1. The philosophy which guided the formation of all The Lane Hacker faction protocols is :
~ Limitations create Challenges. Challenges create Risk. Risk encourages Teamwork. Teamwork creates Great Fun.
In a nutshell, those are the gameplay goals of the faction : Challenge, Risk, Teamwork, Fun.

2. The entrance requirements for The Lane Hackers may be the most difficult and extensive of any faction on Disco. They are intended to accomplish 4 objectives : A) Pre-screen out immature players who just want to join a clan to blow stuff up B) Challenge a recruit to use their ingenuity and grit to accomplish their recruitment tasks C) Provide an opportunity for every Lane Hacker to fly the Dagger at least once in their LH career, since that is the most ubiquitous and obvious Lane Hacker exposure that most people see from the Hacker NPCs D) Teach the Lane Hacker recruit through first-hand experience to behave like an outnumbered and outgunned pirate, rather than an uber pwnzer

3. The stringent career promotion requirements have been carefully crafted to ensure that members learn Disco's rules, the LH faction procedures, and how to authentically role-play as a unique type of pirate : The Lane Hacker. Practical and material criteria are combined with specific role-playing criteria to develop a well-rounded player. They aren't necessarily simple or easy, but they are carefully designed to constantly point members in the direction of authentic Lane Hacker roleplaying and activities.

4. The Lane Hacker faction is NOT what I call a "PvP faction". It is a "Roleplaying faction". In other words, if you completely remove Player vs Player combat, The Lane Hackers still have activities to pursue, because we exist for more than scoring player kills. Nevertheless, Lane Hackers have ample opportunities for very challenging PvP, and also the chance to train their skills with teammates who are among the best pilots on the server. (For the record, I'm not one of them.)

5. Members are required to submit a biography of their character to advance in rank, and are given an impressive incentive to create one very early in their membership. Well developed Lane Hacker characters are unique, interesting, and essential to our objectives.

I am proud that these goals and procedures have combined to create a fantastic team of mature players...who are vastly outnumbered by the lawful forces in Liberty, but who still manage to rack up an impressive number of combat kills.

We are recruiting, but we aren't looking for just anyone. We are looking for mature players (not necessarily veterans of Disco) who are willing to be creative team-players, as well as ruthless pirates.

Any Lane Hacker members who wish to make a statement about their Lane Hacker experiences are welcome to do so in this thread.

All applications for membership should be made "in character" in the recruitment thread.
