So what's up with bases and Roleplay?

Bases are one of the best additions in this version of discovery (controversial opening statement for the win).

If they had not been added, I am pretty sure I would not be playing any more because they add a reason to log in, they add some value and they add (especially when building) some massive thrill and initiate/force teamplay, often creating tense situations.

I will not deny that there are some (many?) lolwut bases, supplied by 10 different IDs and defended by random mix of stuff. It happens, undeniably.

But: There are also bases that are perfectly irp, that add to the roleplay, that serve a function and that are non-disruptive to gameplay and generally enrich Freelancer.

Perhaps it is clever to focus on what works and what is good instead of focussing too much on the negative examples as this can be demotivating a lot.
