So what's up with bases and Roleplay?

It is not bases' fault, but peoples', who lost grip on the roleplay.
It is all about players.

That logic is quite wrong. For example what would happen if all the rules were removed? "It is not admins' fault, but peoples', who lost grip on the roleplay." And Discovery deathmatch 24/7 would be the result.

Thing is, people ARE inherenty evil. If something can be abused, it will be abused. If something can be done without RP in 95% cases it will be done without RP. If max piracy is 2mil 95% pirates will demand 2 mil.

Rules exist exactly for the reason of stoping such things, and when rules are not enough admins handle things. And what about bases? Rules say nothing, and admins did nothing in all those base incedents. All this Whine/Rage/skyping is only logical result.

And how things can be fixed? Removing bases is lazy solution that while fixing problem, is definetly not best. Making some rules for bases MIGHT help, but then we will have either practically unkillable bases or rules will not stop this madness.
In my opinion best thing to do is restrict bases to SRP, while making them invulnerable outside regulated PvP events. What interests me is what position will admins take, or not take.

The tragic thing is that even the argument that the items bases produce add to RP is invalid. Because cloaks let you avoid RP altogether.
