The Lieutenant Mei Xiu was in an office room. She didn't know why at all, but they told her to go there and do what she was told to do, so is the word of the motherland. The Lieutenant had a pile of folders to process, they were the basic forms sent by the applicants prior to their arrival aboard the Trotsky. This new assignment proved to be relaxing compared to the explorations of the tau systems, save for the occasional gunshot.
Mei grabbed a folder from the pile, and opened it. The applicant was called Meiling, and that's pretty much all she'd know about the applicant as the folder appeared to have went through serious complications such as exposure to biohazard materials, an electrical burn, a fire baptism and a gunshot, but at least there was a first name.
It's at this very moment that the phone of doom ringed, THE PHONE of doom. It had been there on the desk since she arrived, this magnificent rotary phone that seemed to come from a new era. It was so beautiful and shiny that it was obviously a trap set by the motherland to test her loyalty to the glorious revolution. It was there, still ringing, her eyes wide open staring at the phone of doom as she started to reach for it.
The phone ringed for a third time, her hand hovering just above the phone, as she was still staring at it. Mei suddenly picked up the phone, listening to the silence coming out of it for about ten seconds.
"The hell is wrong with you? Whatever, your scheduled recruit arrived for the interview." said the male voice coming out of the phone.
"...Hello?" he continued, hanging up a few seconds later, as nobody answered him.
As he turned around, he noticed Lieutenant Xiu already somehow made her way to the waiting room with the half burned and radioactive folder in her hand, glancing at Captain Kyu that was already on her way to her office with her assigned recruit.
Mei approached the applicant, and bowed in front of her with a smile. "Ni Hao, we shall go for chong interview, please follow when you ready xièxiè." she said as she indicated the corridor.
