Well. Putting it into Freelancer lore perspective. Imagine if the gallic royal navy rolled up in Bretonia. And just couldnt destroy bases, because they took 2 weeks or more to kill. They would spend millions of credits on ammunition and fuel, and get nothing out of it. At some point Bretonias kamikaze attacks would kill them all. But does this actually happen in the lore? No. GRN rolls over Bretonia like a rolling pin over soft dough.
So what should that mean for player bases? I don't know. One must find middle ground somewhere, and maybe doing it with a special ship is the right idea. THen again, everyone would just spam the weird ship and you get screwed overnight and wake up without a base.

Too much QQing about this whole thing. Destroy bases while they are level 1 and you have no problem. End of.
