*** OOC: Here it goes for the third time, at the same place after an hour of typing from the beginning. This time I hit Save now and then :) ***

The blue Behemoth was spitting firey death at The Maul...
"Take evasive action! Engineering, give more power to the guns!" cpt. Nightfall was almost frantically giving out orders while struggling to find a solution, "SKings, take out the turrets on that thing before it takes us down!", but he knew his crew was one of the best trained in the fleet so he could permit himself to just shoot out orders, they would have done them.
"This is SKings Leader, we're on it! Request command of all allied fighters Maul, too many turrets on that thing for the three of us to take down in time" ... The Maul was shook by a heavy mortar hit.
"Make it so, by all means! We can't take too much of this pounding. Engineering, more power, I don't care how, shutdown all unnecesary systems!" The Maul took another hit... on the left and right of it two ships turned into bursts of light and shrapnel, it's shields glowed green as the million pieces of metal touched them. Four bursts of light screamed towards the nomad battleship from The Maul's main guns. Then the green and gold death started pouring from the secondary turrets.

Watched from Outpost Hollman, the battle looked like a spectacular fireworks show. Lines of red and green light. The slow moving of golden bursts from the Inferno cannons... a miniature nova star, as a fighter took the last blast needed to turn it into space dust and it's pilot into oblivion... It looked like the capital ships played ping-pong with lightballs, comets of slow moving Battle Razor shots went from one ship to the other, then went back... another three mini-novas burst out in the silence of the Void.

"This is SKings Leader to all pilots! Organize in groups of three! Form a line! Head directly to the turrets taking their fire instead of those behind you!... And SPIN!" Orion grinned at the memory of the first time he did this in the academy. He was the first in line, the other SKings behind him... they killed the engines and then shot a burst from the thrusters to head floating in a straight line to their target. The idea of the tactics was to shield the other two in the group by taking all the turret fire while spinning, which allowed the four quadrants of the shield to take minimum damage and the other three that were not hit to recharge faster, thus making the shields take 20 - 30 percent more damage than if only one quadrant was hit constantly. Then the pilot would break out and move at the back of the line with the second taking the fire and shielding the others... and so on until they reached bombing range of the target, break formation, drop the supernova mines and move away regrouping for another run. A tactic derrived from the Kamikaze of the Second World War in the early days of Earth - this is one of the reasons for the name "Suicide Kings".

"Captain, the Leviathan reports reinforcements en-route with two wings from 282nd and a wing of 101st Ursa Bomber Squad. The Odyssey offers assistance with three wings of 104th Space Superiority Squadron and The Juggernaught, but they are too far and need time to reach us!" said the comm officer with a visible relief on her face... they just needed some time...
"This is the Maul, concentrate all fire on the nomad, reinforcements en-route... let's buy them some time... !" the lights went out, flickered a few times and came back on... as another heavy mortar bit The Maul.
"Captain, we've lost our shields!"...
The Maul would not take much more of this pounding... the lights flickered again as the energy surge burst from the console panel into the hands of the comm officer, Ensign Michelle Kristian. She fell unconscious on the deck with another flicker of the lights...

to be continued...

*** OOC:
let's try getting into more detail,
captains of the mentioned ships, feel free to join in as this is starting to get out of hand with my imagination :)
might get interresting if the SF drops by
and last but not least - Angel throw something at us in the heat of the battle... use your imagination

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov
The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
