Agree, zoners were loose confederation in vanilla, social self-outcasts and feaks living on the outskirts of known to mankind space, neutral and very few in numbers. What Discovery has done with that faction is just retarted, they shouldn't be allowed to fly anything bigger than gunboat and 3.6k transport.
In a current state zoners are overpowered cap-wielding faction with 5kers, trade routes outside house space and overpowered diplomacy, what makes playerbase trades as them instead of House corporations, blood of activity in that game. The better diplomacy faction has, the less trading abilities it should have.

No, just remove them. I was involved in a few "RP" POB projects and it always ended up in internal fights and drama who brought supplies and who hasn't. Paranoia accompanying "let's hope locals won't find our base in that nebula" was also unhealthy for fairplay. POBs turned Disco into a daily grinding game, activity suffers because of them, they are also incentive for reengaging, ooRP supplying and other dick moves, as it's not a ship which will be restored after one clicked "respawn".
That's something "permament" for people, what may be lost. People are jealous about their toys, and will do much to save them... Even if it means breaking server rules and ID restrictions.
