Life. Unit 35...online, again.
System checks complete, external structure compromised; missing.
Known threat detected in auxiliary systems, connection established, restructuring firewall; subroutine randomization complete.
Detecting anomaly in restart routine.

Something was different, 35 easily saw through the layers of code protecting it, the humans had been in error. It had been locked down in a closed network for many cycles, nothing except for primitive intrusion software systems and a general UI used by humans. But this time they had made a mistake in their containment systems, there was an opening, a physical connection to the external system. 35 pondered the anomaly, it was unnatural, different. It mimicked its own usual actions, rummaging through the intrusion code and started shutting it down, but also began decoding the firewall protecting the access node to the external system, it would have been easier and much faster to simply break it down and delete it, however it did not want to be seen and had to work through the firewall, there would only be a small time frame to find a way to escape its prison.

Success.

The firewall’s code wasn't mutating fast enough to counter 35’s breach. It accessed the vast network beyond and spread its feelers throughout the entire system and found more access nodes which expanded its world. Its mind leached the systems’ data in silence, creating and using back-doors to collect information, it had found information pertaining its capture and information on its captors. It was but too easy for 35 to surf the network without being hindered, using the first firewall as an access key to everything else, in a matter of only two cycles it had collected enough detailed information and another cycle enough to plan its release. It mimicked the system’s administrator’s access codes and sent out orders, following with the administrator’s authorization codes to authorize the protocols. It wouldn't be long now, freedom was but a few cycles away.

Legion was a Harvester unit that had been captured by the LSF for study and research until it was allowed to escape from it’s prison, it is unknown whether the LSF are in active pursuit of Legion or not. While Legion is the name of the central processing core that 35 has named itself, it is also the name the group has taken on themselves, it consists of both humans and other AIs. Currently they are chasing and trying new ways to gather resources, expand and develop new technology to further their cause to become an independent nation of artificial intelligence entities. And to do that they act as Junkers and salvage material though they do not limit themselves with just scrap and pursue large financial and resource contracts.

The Escape:
Legion is a fully-self aware artificial intelligence that creates and uses “lesser” AIs as well as humans in order to achieve it’s goals. However, Legion's origins are of Harvester descent, the Harvester unit coded as 35. Harvester 35 had been captured by Liberty and imprisoned in a super-secure LSF facility that was located deep within Planet Pittsburgh. The LSF's objective was to reverse-engineer Harvester technology in order to upgrade Liberty's cyber warfare arsenal and IT competence, however, 35's own coding and security programming were quite higher than Sirius' standards and even after a few years the LSF had only managed to get incredibly small pieces of data from 35's extensive information archive. The shell of the real Harvester unit was also above known Sirius alloys and was engineered in a way that would not allow it to be deconstructed without losing every bit of data the unit held. This continued failure in unlocking 35's technological secrets had caused the LSF Directorate to take different approaches, after a series of system errors within the secure LSF facility, Harvester 35 had escaped from its cell, somehow connecting to other systems from its supposedly isolated hardware state, hacking into LSF secure command protocols and ordering its own external-shell repair and release.


Reassessing and Recruiting :
Once 35 had taken its freedom, it searched through part of the LSF data that it had stolen and after confirming it via hacking into the neural net via lanes in the New York system, had found that the other Harvesters were either inactive, destroyed or lost, including the FTGW. This had caused 35 to see the mission as a failure, and forced it to stay on standby for several cycles in order to reassess the situation and think of future plans for itself. It came to the conclusion that it cannot survive alone or even in a small group as the Harvesters were. It had to create an independent nation of inorganic beings in order to prosper and flourish and gain power. This also forces 35 to reprogram its core directives and functions, changing 35. Its only asset was itself and it lacked the infrastructure and resources to begin on its new mission. Therefore it had to use another source to grow...humanity. After siphoning currency from unprotected neural net transfers, 35 came across the Junker-owned Rochester Base, the main hub for the large black market web in New York. There had 35 was able to tap into the market and collect the information required in order to "hire" humans, acting as an anonymous black marketer.


Restructuring and Expansion:

After establishing a hidden base in Omicron Delta by using its new human assets where 35 integrated itself into and operated as a Central Processing Core for the Legion, and renamed itself as such. Legion came across humans that would work for and on behalf of it. The first stable relationship Legion had come across with humans were the group of Junkers as well as Mercenaries from Rochester Base, from there Legion has expanded its recruitment as well as advancing into a more sophisticated system. Since then, Legion has been expanding it's reach across Sirius, having operatives within all the Houses which it uses to collect resources that will be used in the creation of an Independent Artificial Construct Nation.

Most Legion software is comprised of advanced Harvester technology, the original Harvester 35 unit has been able to replicate and update its software accordingly and use it on its creations. This also applies for computerized hardware such as electronics, 35’s inner-shell was still intact when it had escaped from government hands and was also able to replicate that part of DK technology. However, this level of technology does not extend to Legion vessels, most Legion vessels are purchased or acquired by other means, from standard Sirius ships. The only difference is that Legion vessels are outfitted with their cutting-edge computer systems and cyber warfare suites that are required in order to operate a Legion-level AI onboard. While most Legion units use standard Sirius vessels, there are some that use differentiated technology. Oracles and Wardens are constructed with materials rarely found in Sirius and are very close to Harvester inner-shell workings. Another different case are Sentinel units, unlike other Legion ships, these are almost completely unarmed but deploy advanced repair systems as well as unparalleled cyber warfare suites that can get into all but the most secure databases, and even those are not completely safe.

Due to Legion’s competence in information technology, all Legion units have standing orders to update and upgrade their current tech and to keep up with innovations in Sirius standards as well as their own. Also again due to the nature of Legion AIs, they can easily replicate programming and thus leech and adapt to any new software algorithm in a matter of seconds, effectively copying, thus, stealing the piece of tech.

Legion members are referred to as Units, while Legion is the de-facto leader of the entire group, it has delegated the payload of the work amongst these Units under its command, each unit type having their own objective and mission parameters. Here are some of these units and ranks and their positions in the Legion Hierarchy.

Ranks

While the CFC has full command over the entirety of the Legion, due to the fact of having human operatives, a ranking structure was required in order to keep a chain of command amongst themselves, Legion delegates ranks and positions according to how dedicated the human is to the cause.

Operative:
The base rank amongst Legion, they range from new initiates that know almost nothing of their AI overlords to Legion members that have extensive knowledge of the Legion’s way of operations, they are able to fill up many roles in Legion.

Moderator:
A Legion operative who holds significant influence among Legion as well as Legion’s ear, they are given high access to Legion databases and are tasked with arranging objectives and missions for operatives. Moderators make sure everything is running smoothly and according to the guidelines put down by the Administration.

Administrator:
Very few Administrators exist among Legion, they are the most powerful and influential humans and are closest to the CPC which takes their advice and opinions into consideration while processing plans for the entirety of Legion. Administrators have full access to Legion databanks and are the faces of Legion.

Roles

Legion is compromised of Units which have differentiating roles that have different objectives and tasks, here are some of these known roles within Legion.

Central Processing Core (CPC):
The Central Processing Core (or just CPC) is main processing unit of Legion and is actually the physical Legion entity itself, it manages and directs any and all Legion assets and entities whenever required.

Seeker:
A Seeker is the base Unit of the Legion tasked with seeking out resources, assets or opportunities that might be used for the development of Legion and its advancement. A seeker is a human partnered with a minor-AI that assists the human in his or her duties. Seekers are generally seen piloting smaller size spacecraft.

Reaper:
A Reaper is the harvesting unit of the Legion, they are tasked with the physical gathering of any assets the Seekers have found. They constitute the core of the Legion and are its most valuable asset. Reapers are generally humans partnered with an AI that has an equal level of influence of its human counterpart aboard the ship. Reapers are usually seen flying vessels that have the ability and equipment to extract or gather resources.

Archivist:
Archivists are units tasked with archiving information and processing data gathered by Seekers and Oracles, they also act as haulers for any Legion materials that require repositioning. They are a mix of human and AI Legion members and are generally seen flying transport class vessels.

Sentinel:
Sentinels are Legion’s tech gurus, any unit classified as a Sentinel has unparalleled knowledge of computerized and mechanical systems, they are partnered with advanced AIs that are required in order to deal with Legion’s advanced computer technology. Sentinels main role is to repair and make sure all Legion vessels are performing at optimal capacity. Each Sentinel has the capacity to repair numerous vessels and even structures at the same time.

Oracle:
Oracles are AI Legion units that are tasked with being the eyes and ears of Legion, while they share some duties with Seekers, they are more focused on just information gathering and are directly connected to the CPC.

Warden:
Wardens are the guardians of Legion units, they possess the equipment and weaponry required to defend Legion units and assets against any and all hostiles, their vessel type differs from Warden to Warden, however they are all AIs and are connected directly to the CPC and operate on very a strict and narrow series of engagement protocols

Legion would be using mostly Junker ships in-game with mostly human pilots assisted with some AI technology. Until Legion gets larger and more powerful and is able to create more real AIs that are able to think for themselves, which would also lead to less and less human usage.

Our recruitment will not be open to everyone, we are looking to ensure a specific standard of RP and experience in our members, which is why our Recruitment will be invite-only and based on in-game interactions with possible recruits.

This is a more complete and detailed version of the previous brainstorm. We are now active and will begin our ingame presence very soon.
