Something tells me it was the latter, as ME appears to play an important part in Kepler's development (and, presumably, Liberties' as a whole), yet I see no mention of it anywhere in the actual game.

I assume DSE was ME at some point, most likely when this story was written. Later they were changed to DSE and the story was just poorly edited.

No shock considering Microsoft was involved. Shy
