Address to the People of Omega-49

Ladies and Gentlemen,


There seems to be some confusion as to what exactly has been happening on and above Gran Canaria lately, as well as OSI's involvement in these events. I intend to lay the information straight for all to see in this transmission.

Firstly, It seems that Both the Brotherhood and The Coalition have come to our Planet to remove a threat they have perceived from the other. All that has been accomplished thus far is heavy civilian casualties, and much general pandamonium. Prior to the events of the last few days, Gran Canaria existed in relative peace, and life was as good as it gets out in these regions of space.

On this planet, people from any origin or creed could come and start anew, free from the constraints of their past and heritage. This is how it has always been, and this is how it should remain. Brotherhood, Coalition, it mattered little where a person came from. So long as they could abide the rules and leave there troubles and prejudices at the docking ring, they would be welcome among the populace.

Now we have this... assault. An assault on Gran Canaria's very right to determine her own rules and populace. This assault cannot go unanswered. Today there was an altercation, between some of my companies security assets and a Corsair vessel. OSI security intervened, preventing that Corsair vessel from further orbital strikes against a defenseless planet. They engaged in a skirmish with two vessels, but rather than blindly destroy them both, the fighting was halted just as soon as the orbital bombardment was stopped.

I am told by my director of Security, Director Voncloud, that the skirmish was unavoidable in the context of protecting civilian lives. The damage done to the Corsair vessels is regrettable, but ultimately unavoidable.

Now the Corsair Brotherhood may find issues with these actions, they may label us enemies of the Empire. But I say this to all involved in this conflict.

Gran Canaria is no ones territory but the Zoner peoples. OSI will not tolerate further Orbital Strikes against any targets on the Planet. The Chances for civilian damage are simply too great. As per this attitude, OSI security forces are now ordered to interdict any craft pursuing Orbital Bombardment. Only the needed force to stop the bombardment will be applied.

The war between the SCRA and The Corsair Empire is not news to the Zoners, but no one here on Gran Canaria wants any part of it. We live and work here to create a society in which the prejudices of our fathers do not dictate a man, nor his principles.

To this end, OSI has the following proposition that is hoped to satisfy both warring parties.

Both the Brotherhood, and the Coalition Army will remove themselves from Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria Orbit. Temporarily, OSI security will take over the role of Peace keepers around the planet, while the local police forces will resume thier control of their respective districts. This Martial Law will be lifted, and both parties will leave Omega 49. What you do after that is your business. Feel free to go blast each other to dust in Omega 47 for all we care. Just take it away from the women, children and families that reside on this world.

Gentlemen, Your conflict is your own. The People Of Gran Canaria should not be included in it. This colony has thrived under the administration of Zoners, Please do us all the favor of leaving us to continue our lives and begin picking up the pieces.
