OORP or not?

Ok, so how I'm reading this is, two ways. First from a RP stand point, it is possible for other faction to duplicate equipment (ie: make knock offs.), I'm cool with that it happens in real life all the time and I would exspect it to never end. Second from a player stand point if valid RP reason exist then its fine. Now I understand that not every one has the same levels of imagineation so, we should probally not hold everyone to the same standard as we hold our selves.

I'm cool with all that but, I do have a question then. If knock offs can be made of everything else then why not ships or armor, with valid RP of course. For example, I saw a Outcast manning a IMG gunboat, I said nothing, and someone else did. The responce of that Player/pilot, was we stole it, I'm fine with that as, there is no reason for me to know more than what he told me, and my trade character doesnt question pirates I just avoid them.

What do ya'll think? Can't ships and weapons be knocked (copied) off?
