OORP or not?

Ive been reading everyones post and I was thinking. I've heard a number of times, statment stateing that not useing maxed out armor means death. Not quoteing anyone exactly. I have also heard that since this is a RP server and not a PVP server, that Owning is not the key and arena gear is not to be considered but, I on the other hand have stated that as, we are all playing intelligent beings, wouldn't we use what works if we could get our hands, claws, paws, tenicles, or psuedopods on them?

So, is it needed to have armor to not die? I dont think so against NPCs. However players alot of times yes.
But, this is not a PVP server right? In fact one thing that comes to mind was why was the Osiris feared in the story as there would be not difference from any other battle ship after the upgrades are in place? I think, in my opinion that the balance would be held; different than now, but held if we considered restricting our selves alittle on gear. Now, just in case this comes up, I have only characters either in the Order, or close to the Order in some way, and as a result, even though I am the BIGGEST, PROUDEST, cap WHORE you will ever meet, I do not use Infernos, even though the tactical advantage is obvious.

I then say I will go along with what ever the bulk of the responders put here, I just want to fully explore the communities thoughts and ideas first, as I am not a blind follower. Thanks all for your responces keep em comein.:)
