To tell you the absolute truth, there is not that much difference between MarkVII Universal and MarkVIII Universal. mk7 gives you a 2.3 multiplier for Armor and bots, while mk8 gives you a 2.5 multiplier for Armor and bots.

Mounted on VHFs or Bombers, the difference between the two is very slight.
