If one were to make a cloaking device (just for the sake of argument... :P) It should act something like the cruise mode. The cloaking device has to charge up, and can be disrupted. While cloaked, you cannot fire any weapons or drop countermeasures and the like. To enter cruise mode, you have to disengage the cloaking ability (because your powerplant can only handle so much). It would be a good way to sneak up on someone, but not a very good device to escape from something with. If you could but distance between you and your advisary, then you could cloak and set up a trp, but other than that it would be useless for getting away.

Like I said, this is just for the sake of argument and voicing my idea.
