L'Histoire de la Marine Royale Gauloise - History

The Gallic Royal Navy was formed shortly after the crippled French sleeper ship reached Ile-de-France in 84 A.S. In the beginning, the main agenda of the Gallic Royal Navy was space exploration and searching for the other sleeper ships of the former Alliance. With the passage of time and the isolation of Gallia, as well as space flight becoming accessible to many groups and corporations, including criminals, the Gallic Royal Navy switched to internal security tasks. However, they continued to maintain a large number of capital ships and several research projects determined to create superior ships and weapons in case war with the other Houses ever occurred. Today, the Gallic Royal Navy is a powerful military force that can counter any threat to the Crown inside or outside the borders of Gallia.

The Gallic Royal Navy has been fighting a long war with Gallic rebels known as the Council. Since 748 A.S, the war wages on over the misguided idea that the Royalist policy of isolation and preparation for total war is detrimental to Gallia and that the current government is oppressive and corrupt. The war ended for a time, but the rebellion that started in 794 A.S. on the planet Marne is universally considered the beginning of the Second Gallic War, a struggle that continues to this day.

The current long range goal of the Royal Navy is a war to end all wars against the other former Alliance Houses, although Bretonia and Liberty are the main focus of the Crown's ire. The Royal Navy has been moving forward almost non-stop building ships, researching military technology, gathering intelligence, stealing technology, and training new recruits to make war. This ultimate goal, however, was put on hold by the Council when they managed to capture the Languedoc system, break through the mine fields there and in Lorraine, and make first contact with the other Sirius Houses. This unfortunate event on the one side, made Gallia's presence known to the rest of Sirius earlier then planned, but on the other side essentially started the Gallic invasion of the Taus systems in 818 A.S.

Within a short period of time the overwhelming Gallic Forces conquered the Tau systems. The Kusari Naval Forces were the first to suffer under the sheer amount of Gallic power, losing most of the Imperial Fleet in the process and essentially forcing Kusari to surrender. The next to experience the Royal invasion were the inhabitants of the Colonial Republic, which had to be evacuated from Tau 44 when it fell under Gallic control.

Soon after establishing a stable presence in the Tau systems the Royal Navy continued its march into Bretonia, conquering the system of Edinburgh and taking over most of Leeds. The final attack on the Bretonian capital appears to be scheduled within the next year, as Royal Navy forces prepare to end the Leeds resistance and capture the system totally.

La Convention de Nommage - Naming Convention

All vessels flying under the flag of the Royal Navy's primary fleet are required to identify themselves with a Gallic Royal Navy ID and a transponder emitting a Gallic Royal Navy IFF. Further, they must to the following naming rules:
