First of all, hello and welcome the the discovery gaming community. Yes, this is indeed a mod for freelancer. :>

The activity is considerably high for a freelancer server, but I can say it's seen better days. A full server where you would have to wait for 10 minutes to join at a time, compared to the current 140-150 player peak.

I suggest you go over the extensive rules of the server, get yourself familiar with roleplay, and find a faction to join. There's many of them out there, so you'll probably find something that suits you.
