I'm in favour of adding more unique ships, but they will have to be vetted by admins to prevent bame-breaking Mary Sues from getting through.
One idea that could come from this is having unique ships as donation rewards- i.e. donate money, get your ship added to the mod. So, if I donate, say, £25, I could request a bright pink LABC called the Penetrator. If I donated £250, I could request a wholly unique ship with its own model, texture, and stats, and possible a rumor or two referencing it.
