Yes, there are imports.
No, no more imports are being accepted.
No, partially changing them is not acceptable because it has to fit with whatever shipline the ship is included in. It can be inspired in a ship from certain series, but not just steal the model and add/remove a few bits
No, paying someone won't make your model accepted.
If you really plan on submitting ships do something new and original that the community will accept. Not imports.
Imports is kill
The Development Team's current policy on ship submissions includes the following points:
We no longer accept submissions which are imports from a different game universe or other setting.
All existing imported models are being phased out of the mod as soon as a replacement model is available.
We are unlikely to accept work from other Freelancer mods unless the original creator explicitly offers it to us.
We welcome original work provided that it meets a minimum quality standard. However, we would rather have ships submitted that are suitable replacements for imported ships before we consider adding brand new ships to the mod.
Submitting ships that are unique or for personal use only are much less likely to be accepted than ships which will be open for use. Faction-restricted ships will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Ship Submissions are closed for Mod version 4.87, and will re-open once we are into the v4.88 development cycle. You may still post models to discuss feasibility for inclusion in the mod and receive feedback on ship designs.
The model in the original post would be disqualified for the following criteria:
- It is drawn from an existing non-Freelancer setting.
- The model is not of sufficient quality.
- The model's design does not follow the aesthetics of any existing ship manufacturer in the mod lore.
