While system scale in Freelancer is obviously more fiction than science, it's potentially logical if you want to scale up in the order of hours... not weeks.

And as Echo said, the outer groups only had fighters and freighters. Unless you're rewriting lore with your whacky Zoner ships.
Because now i would say Remove Corsair, BHG core, Order, outcasts, Red Hessian etc bs ships as they cannot fund nor support it neither.. House factions can as they have their companies to support them, and these? how can they fund it all? Zoners you could even say OSI. But other then that? Nope.
Duv rests his case.
Duv's case is a little flawed.
All of those factions have, as Saronsen said, some significant reason to have capital ships. What he missed was the Order having to deal with a -- guess what -- buttload of Nomad battleships to fend off. It's only logical they'd have a somewhat impressive set of capital ships.
Unless you want the Order getting roflstomped by the nomads when suddenly one day all their Osirises have turned into Sekhmets and the ensuing destruction of the Edge Worlds that ensues.
Then we really wouldn't have to worry about Zoner capital ships.
