Can the current GC related RP have any chances of assisting people in providing a more logical population number?

Just asking because... the fact that GC is now under bombardment and all those stuff, it also brings easier excuses and justifications for coming up with new population theories

I would say no, given that the "excess" population shouldn't be there in the first place - as far as I'm aware neither the Corsairs nor the SCRA are busy comitting genocide.

Given ultra-low population density, one would assume that the bombardment of the planet (which I will assume is done with mass drivers/accelerator cannons, not nuclear or dirty weapons, which aren't widely used in Sirius) are more for the psychological and morale-breaking effect than they are for the precise destruction of hostile installations.
