The Death Theme- 'A Strange Kind of Love'

'Gaians don't breathe through machines.' scroll the words across Dimi's sightline, while pulling up a chair beside the remnants of a man too stubborn to simply let go.

'I agree...so what exactly is it you're doing now?' he replies soundlessly through the neural net to the older man.

'You Can Just Go to Hell!' Caul sends his retort at the speed of thought.

Both men cough up blood in unison, as they try to stifle a laugh at the irony...& hide a little pain.

'seriously...take it...it's yours now.' Caul flashed across Dimi's eyes after they regained their composure.

'Yeah...I know'

Moments pass...

Strapped & immobile, Colin stares blankly at a couple of infirmary lights...

'If you change your mind...I'll be here waiting' scroll the words in his mind.

Caul has no idea how to respond to that, & feels his stomach sink.

The channel closes, & whatever part of the mind that powers Colins' neural net, burns out, & causes a portion of Dimi's sightline to go dim.

He puts his head in his hands & quietly begins to cry...

Caul stares blankly at the infirmary lights as he falls away from his life, & towards the binary stars of Edinburgh, as they change color right before his eyes...

He's swept away in a series of creepy green lights that pulse from an infimary somwere in the bowels of Islay Station...with the regularity of a heartbeat.

He thrashes uncontrolably as a ragdoll, & careens in a straight line...directly into his destination of choice.

...Colin Murphy flashes a smile...& is gone.
