As I was overseeing Matrose Schwarzkopf while he proceeded with registering duties of his ship and first duty missions to the Rheinwehr, I noticed a ship clearly avoiding us as it approached the tradelanes' crossing outside of Planet Stuttgart. The ship was cruising towards the jumphole to Dresden. I moved to intercept and hailed the ship.
The ship was identified as the ScornStar and was a Zoner destroyer. It refused orders to stop, but cut cruise engines, which allowed me to approach it. As I came by, I detected it was carrying a number of pilots in its hold, including military and police personnel from other Houses, civilians and bandits. I demanded that it released the lawful pilots and it refused at first. Whatever it was that was contacting me didn't quite sound human and stated that those people were its sustenance. I figured the commander of the ship was transporting those people to collect bounties. When I specified that I required the lawful pilots only, it agreed and transfered me those. I let the ship proceed then to Dresden.
I left Matrose Schwarzkopf to his duties and returned the former captives to New Berlin. Something about those people was odd and I required that the medical personnel stood by to check on those people upon my arrival.
When I finally landed my Wrath and looked at the pilots I've rescued, I was shocked. Some of the people were lobotomized, some others had strange markings, but all of them were in terrible psychological conditions. The few who were able to give any account of what they had experienced on board the ship, babbled nonsense about "the ship", referring to it as a living being, experimenting with them, eating them. Given their mental state, from all I've heard, I couldn't make out anything close to a report of what really happened to them on board.
When the thing that contacted me said the people on board were it's sustenance, I figured it meant monetarily. I thought those pilots would be taken to prison and the bounties on them collected. Now I fear I've made a mistake letting the ship slip through my fingers with the pirate pilots. I suggest that this ship be stopped by all means, no matter its claims, should it ever enter Rheinland space again. Whatever whoever it is that controls it, must be doing inhumane things to its captives.
