"The Festival of Blights" (Part XXIX)


Marburg has a headache, & sees nothing but red...

Trying to shake his head clear, & take in air...fueled by nothing more than fear & adrenaline, he lunges towards Colin with a deeply course howl so loud, that it can be felt...

He crashes into Colin accompanied by the disturbing sound of snapping ribs...& in a blind fury, begins wailing on the person who very literally made him the man he is today.

As he procedes to beat his Elder very much to his death; colapsing his former guardians' face until the blood starts to splash, & the hits sound wet...a part of him screams to the top of his core in unison...

...& the Beast hesitates...

On his knees above the broken, defomed, sloppy remnant of a C.O...his fist poised to smash through Colins' windpipe...the red begins to fade as a wave of cause & effect crashes into the beast that subtly hits him like a tzunami, throwing him off balance & forcing him to instantly miss the mark, sending his fist to shatter on the fight-pit floor instead of the middle of Phages neck.

The Man regains his control as the shock & pain travel up his arm, & wavy stars flutter in his sightline...

They grow, expand & connect, until the next thing Damien sees...is nothing.

The former Plague Dog blacks out, & collapses of exaustion onto the floor; & sinks into the first peaceful sleep in close to a year.
----------------------------------------------

The waves of cause & effect wash over him, & lift us out of his mind, as they click the tumblers that carry us off...away from this moment, & onto the path of another...
