Third pass on the infocards, if no problems are found I'll be treating these as the final versions. Any and all feedback is desired.
Serenity
At the height of the Gallic Invasion Bretonia’s vital supply lines to Liberty came under fire by Gallic forces, the lumbering armoured transports quickly became fodder for the invader’s swift and agile fighters. To counteract the increasing number of damaged convoys a new type of blockade runner was required, one that was cheap and could be easily repaired.
Submitted fresh from the design table the Serenity class transport fulfilled the demands precisely, by utilising the prefabricated construction prototyped on the Tranquility, this rugged ship could be mass produced inexpensively using recycled materials and repaired just as easily. The modular construction allowed parts both large and small to be replaced rapidly meaning subsequent repairs could be done independently of the ships operations.
The Serenity was quickly pressed into production on the civilian market, becomingly widely accepted as one of the most versatile transports available today. Persisting rumours suggest the designers may have already sold off several blueprint copies before officially submitting the design, these claims have yet to be substantiated but reports allegedly show Serenity class transports in the hands of less than reputable captains.
Tranquility
Conceived in Bretonia during the onset of the Gallic Invasion, the Tranquility class freighter began life as a testbed for a new construction technique based upon prefabricated modules. The concept was to create a mass producible ship that would be inexpensive to manufacture and easily maintainable. However resource constraints meant that only scrap and recycled metal was readily available, this forced the designers to alter the ship’s design to accommodate for the lack of premium materials. The result was a strong fighter style hull which represents quite a departure from standard freighter designs.
The overall project was considered a rousing success despite the ship being deemed unsuitable for the purpose. Disappointed but spurred on, the creators of the Tranquility quietly sold off several copies of the blueprints and began drawing up plans for a much larger vessel.
