hmm...
Let's say a trade lane is rated at a speed of 3000
and so our bullet train enters
in addition to having double the "cruise" speed of (6000), it could also accelerate and decel twice as quickly, or simply keep the accel and brake upon exit
while realistically this kind of G force is probably unhealthy, but this is FL so realism is not an issue.
and the train will exit the same speed any other ship exits, thus all's well ends well.

Also currently, inside the tradelane I'd assume that the bullet train would simply pass right through the slower ship? Could explain it as some kind of small distortion inside the lanes that allows this.

edit:

We have devs and flhook?

I mentioned some in the OP. It contains wordsBig Grin you should go check it out

Wrong. having twice the speed means you are covering twice as much ground as everyone else, and probably twice as much encounters with other players. Also the stats should be designed so that it shouldn't be hard to intercept this ship if you know what you're doing.

You'll arrive at the JH before you know it. And when you alt-tab back, a pirate near the JH will have disabled your ship and carefully RPing his way to make you explode.

A bullet train, silly Smile

No atmosphere? GTFO.
The propeller is the greatest invention of all time.
